Bio
A lot of what brings people to therapy is hard to say out loud. Some of it never had words to begin with.
I am a licensed professional counselor and I work with children, teens, families, and adults. When talking is not the way in, I use art, play, and EMDR. Those let a person work on something without having to narrate it first, which matters most with trauma, where being asked to explain is often the thing keeping someone stuck.
Much of my work comes back to relationships. How you were cared for as a child shapes how you relate to people now, usually in ways nobody chose and nobody noticed until adulthood. We look at that together, and we pay attention to what your body is doing while we talk, because it often knows something before you do.
You set the pace. I am not going to move you toward anything you are not ready for.
My master's is in International Disaster Psychology from the University of Denver, a program built around trauma and crisis work across cultures. Before that, I studied psychology with a focus in sociology at Indiana Wesleyan University. I am currently pursuing a PhD in psychology, which mostly means I am still a student of this work and plan to be for a long time.
Outside of work, I am usually out somewhere with my three dogs. I also bake for people, restore old furniture, and lose whole evenings to thousand-piece puzzles.
